My name is Julie, a 39-year-old mermaid from Norway. With 12 years of experience in the cinema industry, I eventually transitioned to the offshore industry. Currently, I work both onshore, in the reception at Mongstad (an oil refinery), and partly offshore, on a boat as a catering assistant—simply because I love being at sea. I have a bachelor's degree in film studies and have always been passionate about film and photography. As a child, I dreamed of being an astronaut, and my goal is to travel with Virgin Galactic.
My life has been a journey of following expectations—school, degree, moving out, all by the book.
However, these significant accomplishments didn't necessarily bring me happiness as they didn't align with my core values. My biggest passion is travel. I've traveled extensively, including a month in Australia, a year in the USA, and almost everywhere in Europe. Swimming in the sea, where some call me a mermaid, is another passion that brings me immense joy. I also want to use my platform to support ocean cleanup. Seeing trash in the ocean is painful, so I make it a point to pick up trash while snorkeling.
This brings me a sense of fulfillment and happiness.
My mission is to live a life that is entirely my own, with the freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want. I aim to break free from societal expectations and make choices based on my own wants and needs. I am dedicated to supporting ocean cleanup efforts, combining my love for the sea with my commitment to making a positive impact. I am ready to take risks and put in the hard work to achieve my dream life. My journey is about embracing my true self, pursuing my passions, and contributing to a cleaner, healthier ocean.
